This study discusses the phenomenon of shifting roles between husband and wife in the household, especially in Klorogan Village, Geger District, Madiun Regency. This study is motivated by the increasing involvement of women in the publik sphere and the family economy which causes wives to often become the main breadwinners, while husbands take on domestic roles. Sosial roles are very much needed in this problem, therefore this study will measure whether this problem has resulted in family conflict over the shifting phenomenon.
This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with Max Weber's sosial action theory to analyze the motives and subjective meanings behind the shifting roles. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of six married couples and local community leaders.
The objectives of this study are: 1) This study is to analyze the roles of husbands and wives in the domestic publik sphere in households in Klorogan Village, Geger District, Madiun Regency. 2) To determine the impact of role shifting on leadership in households in the Klorogan Village community, Geger District, Madiun Regency.
The results of the study indicate that economic faktors are the main drivers of role shifting, followed by socio-cultural influences and family sosial needs. This shift affects the dynamics of leadership in the household and creates a double burden for women. However, through flexible and collaborative communication and role adjustments, households can remain harmonious. These findings contribute to the study of Islamic family law and highlight the importance of equal roles for husband and wife in modern society.
