The school reform and student learning: a multicultural perspective according to james a. Banks

Abstract

This study aims to explore the meaning of reform and learning from a multicultural perspective and to consider its implications for student learning according to James A. Banks. The primary source for this study is the book *Multicultural Education Issues and Perspectives* by James A. Banks, while supporting sources include articles based on previous relevant findings. This study employs a library research method. Using content analysis, this study identified six aspects of multicultural reform: (1) school and learning reform from a multicultural perspective; (2) school reform must be anti-racist and anti-bias; (3) school reform reflects an understanding of and acceptance for all students; (4) school reform must be grounded in critical pedagogy; and (5) the involvement of students, teachers, and families.
