Mapping a Decade of Religious Moderation in Islamic Religious Education: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract

This research aims to explore the trends in publication of research on substitution, combination, adaptation, modification, repurposing, elimination, and rearrangement of religious moderation in Islamic education over the past 10 years. The method used to explore research trends is a literature review through bibliometric analysis. The results of the bibliometric analysis identify core research or authors, as well as their relationships, by encompassing all publications related to a specific topic or field. Publications related to religious moderation from 2014 to 2024 were taken from Scopus. The trend of research on religious moderation in Islamic education is visualized using the Bibliometrix program. The research results show that the trend of religious moderation research has continued to increase over the past 10 years, especially in the last five years. Network analysis based on keyword emergence shows that the main keywords of the research are moderation and religion. Based on the analysis of the field of study, religious moderation has been extensively studied in education and Islamic studies. Only a few studies have been conducted in sports, social studies, management, psychology, and health. The benefit of this research can illustrate the extent to which religious moderation in Islamic education has been applied to shape the character of students.
