A Qualitative Case Study on the Use of Mind Mapping in Online Learning
Abstract
This study aims to examine students’ responses to the online-based mind mapping method and to assess their understanding of the concept. It also explores an English teacher’s perspective on the application of mind mapping in teaching Grade 10 students. Adopting a qualitative case study design, the research involved Grade 10 learners at SMKN Ngraho. Data were collected through interviews and documentation. The findings indicate that the mind mapping method can be effectively implemented in online English classes when the teacher provides clear instructions, enabling students to grasp the process more easily. Furthermore, this method is also applied in offline learning with similar outcomes. While mind mapping is generally perceived as an accessible and effective strategy, its success depends on regular review of learning materials and targeted vocabulary development to enhance comprehension.
